about memories and imagery of spanish civil war, this project was made in el bruc (catalunya), where i interviewed and photographed spanish civil war survivors and refugees. one year later, i travelled to paris, trying to find traces of the stories i heard in el bruc. this series is an attempt to reflect on the fragility of imagery as witness and storyteller, on collective authorship, on memory as fictional creation.
the photographs i took while in el bruc and paris are mixed with the photographs from the survivors’ personal archives, without pointing out which is which.
